Poem: I Stood By Your Bed Last Night

I really like and appreciate a well written poem and the skill and thought someone can put into one. So much so that it can be very personal and touch the heart. Take a little time today to write some words for a loved one straight from your heart. Often these unexpected written words will touch the heart and mean so much more to them than an everyday "I love you."

I would like to share with you a beautiful poem that someone shared with me. And if like me you have lost someone that you truly love, whether it be through death, having to say goodbye or just  parted ways, you will know how this emotional pain can also become a deep physical one. This poem is well written, gets you thinking, but most importantly true to every word, making it touch your heart and think of that lost loved one, enjoy.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was clos...e to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Inspiring People - John Lennon

John Lennon is one person I find inspiration from and so both my sister and I were excited to spend a few days away in Liverpool last month to enjoy the cities arts & culture. Liverpool offered us an atmospheric insight into the life, culture and music of the iconic 1960s English rock band The BeetlesThe Beatles became one of the most successful bands of all time and gained fans around the world, Beatlemania still grips Liverpool to this day. The Beatles "revolutionized the sound, style, and attitude of popular music".
"For young people in 1972, it was thrilling to see Lennon's courage in standing up to the US President. That willingness to take risks with his career and his life is one reason why people still admire him today".

John Lennon devoted the later part of his life to a worldwide peace movement. His message of peace is timeless and is one that is more relevant now than ever.

Meeting Inspiring People - BBC's Mark Speight

I really like it when life gives me the opportunity to meet really inspiring people, people who make me want to achieve more. I recently had the pleasure of meeting the father of the late Mark Speight. Mark's well known for being one of the top presenters of the BBC's highly rated children’s show SMart. He was certainly right when he said always do what you want to do, don't listen to what others tell you to do as you'll be better at doing what makes you happy. See people can make money from being an artist when they're alive!

Happy New Year! New start . . . New ART

Happy New Year! It's that time when everyone looks for change in their life, new inspirations, new beginnings - after all January 1st brings with it a new year & a chance to encourage change.

For me 2012 Means:
New art, photography & looking for new inspirations (amongst other things). I first fell in love with art the day I was handed a paintbrush at Playbus & knew that this was what I wanted to do. Though not everyone's supported me for being an artist / photographer & I've even been told "don't artists usually make money from their art when they're dead?" I ignore them knowing that this is my passion. A passion which is fun, creative & allows me to express the things I love & the world around me too & in some cases reach thousands of people from a busy public corridor, other cities & even on a double decker bus & train! Exciting!

I'm a dreamer so I'll continue to dream, believe & achieve & who knows where my art will go. And maybe next year this time I'd have just finished celebrating the new year & welcoming in 2013 at Sydney's Harbour party! We can all dream!
